Is Remote Work Here To Stay? How Does The Future Look Like?

April 21, 2021

The massive spread of COVID-19 has led to a rapid shift of corporates relying more on remote work than ever. Nowadays, all the recruiters are getting a common question during the interview calls:

 “Can I work from home?”

Lockdowns, quarantines, and self-imposed isolation have pushed so many people to work from their homes. Remote work is not a new thing but it didn't feel so convenient before the pandemic hit.

Unfortunately, the pandemic doesn't seem to leave our planet soon. While it is expanding its claws, many corporates are planning ahead for plan Bs. While COVID has its own plans, it's better we find out sustainable ways to cope with them. Working from home is one of the life-saving (literally) hacks we can adapt to right now.

Where Is Remote Work Culture Going?

Many believe that this work-from-home trend is here to stay. It will be a permanent lifestyle rather than a temporary hack. In fact, Gartner has found that approximately 74% of companies are serious about it. They plan to move their on-site workforce to remote positions forever even when COVID is gone. The biggest driving force behind this permanent shift is the cost-cutting perks of working online. Both employers and employees have gotten a clear insight on this during the last year. While the companies can save a lot on office establishments, employees don't have to rent their stay.

According to a survey, remote employees save around $4,000 a year due to the lack of commuting and office meals. Plus, there is a magnificent hike in staff wellbeing and productivity levels. All these leave a little for companies to move back to traditional work culture again.

 The Expanding Wings Of Technology

Companies are relying on technologies more than ever and most works have easier. There is a soaring supply and demand for virtual workplace solutions. Most teams have moved their meetings to conference calls, and management processes to online boards. Also, there are tons of time management and productivity tools that are free to use. Looks like the 'new normal' is on the verge of becoming permanent normal.
