Sammie Leary
Sammie Leary is the founder and owner of Greater than Sparrows Salon and Medspa and Lady Insane Mane Hair Extensions. As a newly licensed hairstylist in 2014, she went through a bad breakup and as a single mother was forced to work from her kitchen. Little did she know that it would soon be built into an empire with over 10,000 clients. Greater than Sparrows Salon and Medspa opened its door in 2015 and quickly became the hot spot for women, men and children of all ages as a one-stop shop for all their beauty needs.
During Sammie‘s venture as a hairstylist working in her own salon, she had a few run-ins with cancer patients who would come in to have their hair cut off (knowing they would lose it anyways from cancer). This broke her heart. It wasn’t very shortly after when her aunt developed stage four lung cancer and lost her hair as well. She was wearing a beat up wig that they would pass around from friend to friend after completing treatments. She knew how expensive the treatments were and also how expensive the wigs were and she thought to herself there has got to be a better way. She then invented Lady Insane Mane Hair Extensions where she now custom makes and supplies lace front wigs with the proceeds for cancer patients all over the world. Sammie also owns an Airbnb in Virginia Beach and has two utility patents with products to look for soon on the market. “Happy Hiney” Which is a disposable diaper rash cream wipe and also a disposable diaper rash cream applicator. “Switch Beard” which is a USB charged switch blade beard comb that heats up and straightens. Sammie’s story is a true example of how misfortune can lead to fortune if you never give up.
